Advanced Manufacturing

What is Advanced Manufacturing?

Advanced manufacturing is used to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality. It consists of two types of technology: process technology that is used in conjunction with or as a result of other advanced technologies, including robotics, automation, and computer-integrated manufacturing.

Advanced manufacturing vs Traditional manufacturing

The concept of traditional manufacturing is the process by which raw constituents/materials are transformed into a finished product through the use of mechanized and manual fabrication techniques. It is also most often associated with specific innovating industries, such as healthcare, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors, and is characterized by scaling, labor skill, research and development, and dynamic/flexible production.

Manufacturing analytics Techniques

Despite manufacturers’ continued search for ways to improve their operations, some of the more popular techniques currently in use include:

  • Robotics
  • Agile Manufacturing
  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Smart Manufacturing
  • Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
